Random Florence Happenings

After Amsterdam, Shane made his way to Florence on Tuesday night, so it was fun to see him again in a city that I could navigate and show him around in.  We was in the city for about 30 minutes before we picked him up, so we could show him how Florence does Tuesday nights!   All of the Americans love celebrating Tuesdays, especially this one considering it was Ke$ha's birthday, Justin Bieber's birthday, Ron Weasley's birthday, the anniversary of Dobbie's death, the first night of March and well a Tuesday night in Florence!
High School Reunion in Florence!
Wednesday was filled with some class, getting cappuccinos with Katie and Shane (luckily she didn't have class for most of the day, so they were able to explore Florence!), finishing up my mask for Sculpture class, meeting up with Katie and Shane again, and finishing up a paper.  Shane was able to sneak in and get a free diner at our pensione.  Too bad it was soup and salad night.  Everyone ordered pizza to send a little hint to the staff that maybe this wasn't the most filling of meals.
Katie, Shane, and I's cappuccinos!
Thursday, which is basically a Friday, was soo relaxing! After lunch, we all got up on our shows before meeting the group at Molso Dolce for Happy Hour (we love out 3,50 euro Martellina beer!).  Since Shane and Liz (Mary's sister) were both in town, we just knew we had to take them to the best pizza place around, so off to Gusta Pizza we went (followed by gelato at La Carria, of course!).  This classic Florence combo can't be beat!  Thursday night was fun bar hopping and exploring the night life- too bad everywhere is full of Americans all the time!  We met up with Katie and found some graffiti from past GIF students on the walls of The Lion's Fountain, so it's fun to keep the legacy going!

Our visitors!
Friday was a fun day too.  We actually allowed ourselves to get some much needed sleep before heading to The Oil Shoppe for lunch (I definitely recommend this place for a cheap, quality lunch- they are only open during the week and close when they run out of bread! The pesto, turkey, sun dried tomato goodness was avery good choice!)  After lunch, we got out Uffizi pass (for 40 euro, you can visit virtually every museum in Florence and even skip some lines! I am looking forward to taking advantage of having this and actually seeing some of the most important places in Florence during the week to avoid the crazy amount of crowds that this city brings in on the weekends).  Once we got that taken care of, we enjoyed the joys of H&M.. that place is dangerous! We eventually met up with Mary and her sister again at Piazza San Michelangelo, which is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to so we could enjoy the sunset over all of Florence.  Dinner was at Dante's, which is a perfect place for a big group of students because there is no service fee andyou get free wine!  We then stopped at a NEW gelato place called Santa Trinita where I tried a sesame something flavor- it was the most bizzarre flavor  of gelato I have ever had, but it was also strangely delicious. We decided to keep it a chill evening because we were waking up early for our trip to Venice!
